An employee assistance program (EAP) is a worksite-based program designed to assist:

• Work organizations in addressing workforce productivity issues and
• Employees in identifying and resolving personal concerns, including marital, family, financial, alcohol, drug, legal, emotional, stress or other personal issues that may affect job performance.

To summarize, an EAP is designed to help both the organization and the individuals within, identify and solve problems that impact job performance and productivity. The EAP can serve as the employer’s expert on human dynamics in the workplace.
